The Harris Meats’ story is unique in New Zealand. It all began in 1956 when Clare Harris suggested to her husband Dennis that they start a butchers shop in Cheviot for servicing the local community. With over 60 years of dedication to provide the best quality meats, Harris Meats Butchery became an iconic country butcher not only for locals but also for many other customers stopping on their way through.
Following in the family footsteps, two brothers, Bryan and Nick Harris, joined the business as butchers. The Harris brothers shared a vision for Harris Meats to become a totally integrated meat production company that controlled the entire production process. This move saw the company to expand into the South Island wholesale market whilst ensuring quality standards that the business had been built on were maintained.
Harris Meats developed a reputation for consistently supplying Prime Quality Meats. From tender steaks and chops to gourmet sausages and bacon, Harris Meats became a name that could always be bought with confidence.
